Change is necessary

It terrifies me that there will be a time when this will no longer be my home

A time when I will be grown

And this will all be like looking back at a cloudy fever dream

My life will no longer be centered around school work and friendships

I want to believe that this will last

That these memories will reside in my mind for the rest of my life

And I will always be able to appreciate these days of freedom

The bliss of ignorance to the reality of our world is soon to be lost

And the innocence of my precious childhood is wiped away

Like the rainy days of puddle jumping

That I can barely grasp in the back of memory

It’s lovely how much we learn and how much we grow through these years

But the loss of these moments creates the opportunity for more

A new era in our consciousness is created

And we will fill it to the brim with our new life

We may lose the things we once could not live without

But we will find happiness in the solitude

Because in the end we are only reliant on ourselves
